Plenty of clubs go seven days a week. At Floods Bar and Grill the vibe's hip, black, urban and professional. The menu's upscale soul (Southern fried pork, Cajun catfish, greens, yams, cornbread), the bar's sleek and long and pours strong, and the music's live and lively. On Sunday night, local diva Gwen Foxx did a fine job of channeling her idol, Chaka Kahn, finding the love that fuels the funk.
Its Patio Jazz series is back this summer with a full calendar from 6 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays through September. Some of the artists appearing will be songstress Dal Bouey, with her selection of high energy dance, Motown and Latin jazz standards; the Cassens Murphy Band, with its take on classic rock and swing; young smooth jazz saxophonist Justin Young; bluesy guitarist Laith Al-Saadi; jazz/hip-hopper Gwen Foxx; and a host of others.

P'ARIS (PIA) DOKES A SENIOR OF AVONDALE HIGH SCHOOL AUBURN HILLS, MICHIGAN WILL PERFORM THE PRE AND HALF TIME SHOW IN HONOLULU,HAWAII FOR THE 2011 PRO BOWL SCHOLARSHIP INVITATIONAL. P'ARIS IS ONE OF THE ONLY TWO PARTICIPANTS FROM MICHIGAN PERFORMING IN THIS YEARS PRO BOWL. P'ARIS HAS STUDIED AND PERFORMED DANCE SINCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. P'ARIS WILL ATTEND CLARK UNIVERSITY THIS FALL MAJORING IN JOURNALISM. P'ARIS NOW PERFORMS WITH A CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING TEAM "QUEST" BASED OUT OF BLOOMFIELD, MICHIGAN.
